Michael J. Schussele, C.P.A. The Pursuit of Financial Happiness ®

M.A., Registered Investment Advisor, Fiduciary, Fee-Only

My professional publications and blogs at The Pursuit of Financial Happiness ™ have been recognized, linked, and republished by Economist's View, naked capitalism,
Credit Writedowns, and Advisor Perspectives, among others, as well as academically cited.
I do my own macroeconomic and financial research and I do not portray third party information as my own.

Under Illinois Law ((215 ILCS 5/500-15)) it is a Class 4 Felony to give insurance advice/analysis without an insurance license whether one sells or not. An Investment Advisor Representative, whether fee-only or not, has a direct fiduciary duty to provide such an analysis and/or advice in retirement, financial, and estate planning and such advice is not incidental. Beware if any fiduciary and/or fee-only advisor tells you otherwise. You should report them to the Illinois Department of Insurance, the appropriate State's Attorney, and the Illinois Attorney General.

Individual/Small Business Consulting

We serve those who intend to retire, have retired, want to maximize and stretch their estates, and for business continuation. We serve only the best needs of our clients. We use very thorough and sophisticated methods to provide planning based on needs and on income/consumption models for comparative analysis. Estate planning looks at all planning techniques to reduce taxes, maximize the estate, stretch it to future generations, and make sure things get done the way the client wants their estate to be implemented. For individuals the fee starts at $100 per hour and is based on the net investable assets being reviewed. I make every effort to minimize my fees while maintaining professional standards; a person wanting to start an IRA with a minimal amount of money would probably pay $50 if they provide the forms and information timely after the initial free meeting and would not need to meet with me again until they had least $5000 in the IRA to discuss any needed diversification. The recommendation would be a no-load fund with no 12(b)1 annual fees which could be implemented at a low fee on-line brokerage of your choice (preferably one which does not charge an application fee) to very importantly keep your expenses low over time.

With respect to individual investment planning, retirement planning, comprehensive retirement/investment planning, I make every attempt, consistent with client cooperation, to keep my professional fees very reasonable, if not extremely competitive. Even my highest per hour fee is below the national average for these professional services.

For business retirement plan participants as a group, the business should contact us for discussion of services, if the business desires and values fiduciary only, no conflict of interest, services for their valued employees. If you own a business or are in charge of the financial management of a company and you have a 401(k) program for employees, you are a fiduciary under the law. No one can relieve you of that legal responsibility. If you need fiduciary consulting with respect to the 401(k) plan and advice available to or given to employees, I would have to render such services as a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) of which I am an absolute fiduciary financial advisor with no conflicts of interest.

In the initial free client meeting, the individual will be given a copy of our full disclosure SEC Form ADV Part 2, which the potential client must review for 72 hours by law before a signed contract may be accepted by us.
